                                                         Wood Fence

The traditional wood fencing of the past remains a popular choice with consumers today, thanks in part to modern technology and the wide range of options available. New developments help decrease problems such as warping and rotting wood, making the many styles of wood fencing practical and attractive.

Wood fencing comes in a variety of forms and finishes that make it an ideal choice for homeowners and businesses alike. The three main benefits of using wood fencing are its aesthetic value, its privacy and its longevity. Since wood is such an adaptive material, it is very versatile and can be used in a variety of functions.

Created from pressure treated pine, the natural beauty of a wood fence remains desirable in residential, commercial and agricultural applications. By following correct installation and treatment procedures, these fences will last for many years.

When security is necessary, privacy fencing can provide both style and safety. Both homeowners and businesses appreciate the seclusion and protection that a privacy fence provides. For a post and rail fence, wood continues to be the most practical and economical solution. Wood is not only an environmentally sound choice; it is also cost-effective to cover large areas of land using a wood post and rail fence.

Since wood fencing is a by-product of trees, the color, grain, texture, and knots vary from picket to picket.  Wood will shrink, warp, and crack when exposed to nature's elements.

When the wooden pickets are milled, they start at 1/2“ by 6”, 1” by 6”, 1/2” by 4”, 1” by 4” wide. These are the measurements before the mill planes and trims.  After this process, the measurements will vary from 7/16” to 3/8” on a 1/2” board and 5/8” to 3/4” on a 1” board.  The width may also vary from 5 1/2” to 6” on a 6” board and 3 1/2” to 4” on a 4” wide board.  This happens on every size board made for fencing when using pine.  Wood also shrinks due to drying, therefore a panel that is tightly put together such as stockade will have spaces between boards after drying;  sometimes the sides are not cut straight , so there may be a gap either at the top, bottom or middle of stockade style.

The manufacturer warrants the wood against rotting and insect infestation for 20 years, they do not warrant against warping and cracking.

AMERICAN FENCE GUARANTEES THE WORKMANSHIP OF ALL OUR INSTALLED FENCES FOR ONE YEAR.

Due to the process of pressure treating the wood mold, mildew and white spots of pine sap are common and will come off in time. The first three months after installation are when the fence is drying out from the chemicals and exposure to Florida weather. Cracks and splits are normal for wood fences.  We cannot be responsible for replacement of the pickets.  We use the best wood available for our fences but…

WOOD IS
STILL WOOD.

If you intend to add color to your pressure treated pine fence you must wait for at least 3 months to allow the fence to dry and settle.  We suggest that you use a color stain; paint does not cling to the treated wood.  If you wish to maintain the new wood color longer, you may want to seal it.

THANK YOU FOR CHOSING AMERICAN FENCE.  WE WANT ALL OF OUR CUSTOMERS TO BE SATISFIED WITH THEIR WOODEN FENCES, AND WILL DO WHAT WE CAN TO MAKE THIS INVESTMENT A LASTING ONE.
